...So Mount invited Davies to dinner. Then it snowed, and the game was postponed two weeks. No worries. On Feb. 24, the Davies contingent rolled up Logee Street. The Mount mothers prepared some food and Richard Paolo, who played first singles for Mount in tennis in the 1980s and owns a Mendon Road deli now, delivered the rest at a considerable discount.

 

“I thought it was great,” Davies coach David Johnston said. “Both teams ate together in the cafeteria. It was really nice. It was good to see both teams sitting down at the table and laughing and joking and having a good time together. It was good all the way around. We really appreciated it. The boys went over and thanked the mothers.”
